It’s Competition Season!!

The season is off to a great start! In November, Team Excel Juvenile and Intermediate started off the season competing at the Thanksgiving Classic in Plymouth, MA and performing in the Celebration of Sisters benefit show at Babson College. All other teams started the competition season competing at our very own Boston Synchronized Skating Classic in Marlborough, MA.

December has also been a very busy competition month. Intermediate traveled to the Dr. Porter Synchronized Skating Classic in Ann Arbor, MI for the first time with Senior and Collegiate. The Intermediate team came in 3rd, Collegiate came in 6th and Senior finished in 8th place. This past weekend, all teams competed at the Cape Cod Synchronized Skating Classic.

At the Cape Cod Synchronized Skating Classic, Team Excel Collegiate won the Collegiate division and brought home gold medals, Senior placed 3rd, Intermediate placed 4th, and Excel Crystals Black placed 3rd – pictured below.  It was a great weekend for all teams.

Team Excel Skaters Participate in HopeWalks

On Sunday, September 28th, skaters participated in the fifth annual HopeWalks event at Newton-Wellesley Hospital in loving memory of Jane Gruber, fondly known as “Grubie.”

Grubie was a founding member of Team Excel. She managed all of the off-ice training activities, attended all off-ice practice sessions for all teams, and traveled to competitions and events. She was also the Director of Rehab Services at Newton Wellesley Hospital, and actively treated skaters from clubs all over Massachusetts. Grubie is greatly missed, but her memory lives on in the skating community. We are all inspired to be Strong Like Grubie!

Proceeds raised from the HopeWalks event benefit cancer patients by supporting the Integrative Support Services offered at the Vernon Cancer Center where Grubie was treated.
