2013-2014 Collegiate Team

Team Excel Collegiate, proudly represents The Skating Club of Boston. The team is composed of full-time students who wish to pursue a competitive skating career at one of the premier figure skating clubs in the country while pursuing their undergraduate or graduate degrees at a school that suits their academic needs. Over the past 5 years, team members have hailed from 15 states, and attended 40 colleges or universities located in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maine, New Hampshire and Connecticut. The team is fully funded through the Team Excel Scholarship, which enables our student-athletes to compete at a national level despite the financial burden of higher education.

In the 2013-2014 season, the team won the Collegiate Silver Medal at the U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships, earning Team Excel Synchronized Skating Teams and The Skating Club of Boston their second synchronized skating national medal. In the 2012-2013 season, the team won the Eastern Synchronized Skating Sectional Championships, and placed 4th at the U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships, earning Team Excel Synchronized Skating Teams and The Skating Club of Boston their first synchronized skating national medal. The Collegiate team is coached by Team Excel’s Director of Synchronized Skating, Merita Mullen, and practices at both The Skating Club of Boston in Boston and the Foxboro Sports Center in Foxboro. Their competitive program is choreographed by Anu Oksanen, who is a world champion coach and choreographer of both Marigold Ice Unity (Senior) and Musketeers (Junior) from Helsinki, Finland.
